Overview

This week is for gentle practice. You learn the shape of prayer, visit or at least phone a masjid, and start using short remembrance. None of it has to be done perfectly.

Main goal

Start praying in a way you can actually keep up, and make one first contact with other Muslims.

You are praying in some form and you know where to go locally when you need help.

Go gently

  • Learn the shape of the prayer first. Memorising takes weeks, and that is normal.
  • One course at a time is plenty.

  • Your Arabic pronunciation does not have to be right yet.
  • Missing prayers while you are still learning is normal.
  • Feeling out of place at the masjid the first few times is normal too.
  • Optional practices can wait until the required ones feel steady.
