Accessibility
Our commitment
Revert Guide is built to work for people of every ability. The site meets WCAG 2.1 Level AA criteria and the requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). Nobody should be shut out of this content by the way it was coded.
Standards
- Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA
- Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)
- Tested with screen readers including NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver
Accessibility features
- Full keyboard navigation, so every feature is reachable without a mouse
- Screen reader support through semantic HTML and ARIA attributes
- Color contrast that meets WCAG AA (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text)
- A skip-to-content link that bypasses the navigation
- Descriptive link text, with no "click here" links
- Alternative text on every meaningful image
- Content cached for offline reading, so it stays available without a connection
- Responsive layout that works on phones and desktops
- A clear heading structure you can navigate by
- Visible focus indicators on all interactive elements
- Logical tab order on every page
Known limitations
The map and address search on the Find a Masjid page depend on third-party mapping services, and those may not work fully in every screen reader or keyboard workflow. All the location details, filters, and directions links also appear in the text results list on the same page, which is fully accessible.
