15 entries in total, picked to be learnable rather than exhaustive.

Quranic wording and hadith wording are labeled separately.

Your own words are welcome too, and this page marks them as yours rather than transmitted.

When you need more than a dua card

If you might hurt yourself, feel unsafe, are being abused, or cannot get through the day, call emergency services, a crisis line, a clinician, or a local professional you trust. Dua and practical help work together. One does not replace the other.

Daily remembrance basics

Start with a few short phrases you can understand and repeat easily. Dhikr is not a race, and nobody is counting.

DhikrAny time, and often after prayer

SubhanAllah

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ

Transliteration

SubhanAllah

Meaning

Glory be to Allah.

Beginner note

A short remembrance that turns your heart back toward Allah. Useful when your mind has wandered off.

DhikrGratitude, ordinary moments, and after prayer

Alhamdulillah

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ

Transliteration

Alhamdulillah

Meaning

All praise belongs to Allah.

Beginner note

Use it when you notice a blessing, large or small.

DhikrPrayer, awe, and after prayer

Allahu Akbar

اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ

Transliteration

Allahu akbar

Meaning

Allah is the Greatest.

Beginner note

Saying it puts your worries, and whoever you are worried about, back in proportion.

DhikrRemembering tawhid

La ilaha illa Allah

لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ

Transliteration

La ilaha illa Allah

Meaning

There is no god worthy of worship except Allah.

Beginner note

This is the heart of Islamic belief. Say it with attention, not as background noise.

Before and after prayer

Prayer already holds the duas a beginner most needs. When you finish, sit for a moment with a short dhikr before you get up.

Quranic duaInside every prayer

Guidance from Al-Fatiha

اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ

Transliteration

Ihdinas-siratal-mustaqim

Meaning

Guide us to the straight path.

Beginner note

You say this in every rak'ah. If you learn the meaning of one line of prayer first, make it this one.

DhikrAfter the obligatory prayer

After-prayer dhikr pattern

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ

Transliteration

SubhanAllah. Alhamdulillah. Allahu akbar.

Meaning

Glorify Allah, praise Allah, and declare Allah's greatness.

Beginner note

Many Muslims repeat these after every prayer. Start with a few of each and learn the full count later.

Asking for guidance

Use these when you feel unsure, pulled in two directions, or worried that your faith will not hold.

Quranic duaWhen faith feels fragile

Keep my heart steady

رَبَّنَا لَا تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنَا وَهَبْ لَنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحْمَةً

Transliteration

Rabbana la tuzigh qulubana ba'da idh hadaytana wa hab lana min ladunka rahmah

Meaning

Our Lord, do not let our hearts turn away after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from You.

Beginner note

A Quranic dua for the days when you are afraid of slipping or losing the thread.

Quranic duaA balanced everyday dua

Good in this life and the next

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Transliteration

Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanah wa fil-akhirati hasanah wa qina 'adhaban-nar

Meaning

Our Lord, give us good in this world and the Hereafter, and protect us from the Fire.

Beginner note

A short Quranic dua that asks for good in the life you are living now and good in the one after it.

When you feel anxious or overwhelmed

Dua and dhikr bring real comfort. They are not a substitute for help when you are in crisis, thinking of hurting yourself, being abused, or unable to get through the day.

Hadith duaWhen worry, sadness, debt, or pressure feels heavy

For anxiety and grief

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْهَمِّ وَالْحُزْنِ، وَالْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَلِ، وَالْبُخْلِ وَالْجُبْنِ، وَضَلَعِ الدَّيْنِ وَغَلَبَةِ الرِّجَالِ

Transliteration

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-hammi wal-huzn, wal-'ajzi wal-kasal, wal-bukhli wal-jubn, wa dala'id-dayn wa ghalabatir-rijal

Meaning

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry, grief, helplessness, laziness, miserliness, cowardice, heavy debt, and being overpowered.

Beginner note

Say this, and also take the practical step in front of you: make the call, see the doctor, tell someone.

Quranic duaBefore a hard conversation or test

Patience and firm steps

رَبَّنَا أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْرًا وَثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَنَا

Transliteration

Rabbana afrigh 'alayna sabran wa thabbit aqdamana

Meaning

Our Lord, pour patience upon us and make our steps firm.

Beginner note

A Quranic dua for the moment right before something hard, when you need patience and nerve at once.

Gratitude and repentance

Repentance is not reserved for the big failures. It is an ordinary, regular return to Allah, done honestly and with hope.

Hadith duaMorning, evening, or after you have slipped

Sayyid al-istighfar

Transliteration

Allahumma anta Rabbi la ilaha illa ant, khalaqtani wa ana 'abduk, wa ana 'ala 'ahdika wa wa'dika mastata't...

Meaning

O Allah, You are my Lord. I admit Your blessings and my sins, so forgive me, for none forgives sins except You.

Beginner note

This one is longer than a starter phrase. Learn it a line at a time and keep the meaning in front of you while you do.

Quranic duaWhen returning to Allah

Forgiveness and mercy

رَبَّنَا آمَنَّا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الرَّاحِمِينَ

Transliteration

Rabbana amanna faghfir lana warhamna wa anta khayrur-rahimin

Meaning

Our Lord, we have believed, so forgive us and have mercy on us; You are the best of those who show mercy.

Beginner note

A short Quranic dua that puts faith, forgiveness, and mercy into one sentence.

Before learning or a hard conversation

Before you open a book, ask a question, or sit down with your family, ask Allah for clear understanding and gentle speech.

Quranic duaBefore learning, speaking, or asking for help

Ease and an open heart

رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي وَاحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِّن لِّسَانِي يَفْقَهُوا قَوْلِي

Transliteration

Rabbi ishrah li sadri. Wa yassir li amri. Wahlul 'uqdatan min lisani. Yafqahu qawli.

Meaning

My Lord, open my heart, make my task easy, loosen the knot from my tongue, and let my words be understood.

Beginner note

This is the dua of Prophet Musa, peace be upon him. Many new Muslims say it before a conversation they have been dreading.

Hadith duaBefore study or a class

Beneficial knowledge

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

Transliteration

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'a, wa rizqan tayyiba, wa 'amalan mutaqabbala

Meaning

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and accepted deeds.

Beginner note

Useful before a class on Islam, and just as useful before work, school, or learning a skill.

Personal dua in your own words

You can call on Allah in the language you actually think in. Just keep your own wording separate in your mind from Quranic and Prophetic wording.

Personal duaAny time outside fixed prayer recitation

Personal wording

There is no fixed Arabic wording for this one.

Meaning

Example: O Allah, guide me, forgive me, make prayer easy for me, and place good people in my life.

Beginner note

This is personal wording, not a transmitted dua. Ask Allah for what you need, in your own language, in your own words.

Compact daily reference

After prayer

Say SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, and Allahu akbar slowly. Add the full count once that feels steady.

When overwhelmed

Say one short dua, breathe, then do one practical thing: call someone safe, get out of danger, ask for help.

Before learning

Ask Allah for useful knowledge and an open heart before a class, a book, or a hard conversation.
